Getting Better!

Nichy has been out of town he left the day Gabriela got chicken pox!! Wednesday was a really bad night. She just seemed so uncomfortable tossing and turning all night. But today she seems like her old self and her spots are healing! She mainly got them on her face, stomach, and back. Not many on her arms and legs. I have just felt so sorry for her and have been spoiling her! Lately there has been no crying in the crib before naps or going to sleep! I rock her, hold her, and feed her whenever she wants!! After she has healed from the chicken pox we will have to do some retraining with the naps and bed time! This has been her first time being sick and I am glad it is almost over. It has really made me thankful for her health. With Nichy being gone I have been in the house all week. We are still planning on going to the U.S. next week, just not sure what day we will fly on. Not looking forward to a 9 hour drive, and 10 hour flight!

Here is a picture of Gabriela on the 4 day of chicken pox. A friend thinks this should be my Christmas card! We were suppose to take a family pic for Christmas cards before we left for the states. However, I didn't think Gabriela was very photogenic this week!

Chicken Pox!

Gabriela woke up with small bumps on her face this morning. I checked her body and she had a few more. One of Nichys teamates kids had chickenbox last week and they were at the games this weekend. Apparently they were STILL contagious!! We took her to the Dr. and he said it was a mild case. This is the first time she has been sick, and I think it has been harder on Nichy and I than Gabriela!! We both just can't believe she has chicken pox and feel so sorry for her!! Gabriela and I are suppose to go to the U.S. next week for Thanksgiving. Don't know if we will be able to fly by then...........

On a good note she has started pulling up!

The weekend started out great. Friday night El Nacional was losing. With less than one second on the clock Nichy made a fade away jumper off the glass to tie the game! We went to overtime and won! Thursday and Friday were in the high 80’s low 90’s but Saturday was cold! Isn’t that how it always works out when you are planning a weekend outside. We did not go to the beach on Saturday. Oh let me back up a little. I was not able to take Gabriela’s stroller on the bus because there was not enough room. I had to carry her everywhere this weekend! Strollers are very expensive in Argentina, and you see mothers carrying their babies a lot! I have a new found respect for these women. After not having my stroller this weekend, I realize what a necessity one is.

Sunday was a warmer day. We went to the beach and walked around a lot! Nichy had to rest before his game so he couldn't do much. But Gabriela and I soaked up a little sun and ate icecream:) Yes I gave her a tiny bite! She loved it and now anyone she sees with icecream she won't take her eyes off their cup! Watching the game Sunday night looked like Nichy needed more rest! After having a great game on Friday...Sunday was not the same! He was 4-14....the ball just wouldn't go in! They played a really good team and lost by 8.

Monte Hermoso is a really cute little beach town. We will probally start going more and staying the weekend but with the stroller!

Too much walking

Gabriela got a little tired from the 4 hours of shopping!!!

Went shopping with Toya today. We walked and shopped for about 4 hours! She is married to James one of Nichy’s American teammates. I think it is becoming a tradition to eat at McDonalds when they are out of town! We cook a lot when they are here and need a break! We are both going to Monte Hermoso for the games this weekend. I am excited to go to the beach and hope to get some color! I got Gabriela a bikini…and I retired mine!! We walked way too much today and I am exhausted! Gabriela did good today we will see how many times she tries to eat sand this weekend!

Teaching English!

Yesterday I went to the Academy of English to teach two classes. After meeting with the principal I agreed to teach two days a week for a small fee. Actually it was a really SMALL fee!! When I arrived yesterday she asked if I could come everday!!! I explained I couldn't because I didn't have anyone to watch Gabriela. The classes went well, and the students had a good time. When it was time to get paid the principal just gave me a blank stare and acted as if she had not agreed to pay me!! Argentinians can be really pushy and take advantage of you if you let them. I think my teaching days might be over!!

I came home to Gabriela drinking a bottle and holding it by herself!!! Nichy and I couldn't believe it. We had no idea she could do this because she rarely gets a bottle! It was fun comparing the pictures from yesterday and the first time she had a bottle. Looks like dad likes the wife beaters:)

Nichy's Day Off

Nichy practices ALL of the time!! They usually have morning practice and evening weights. With two games a week, he gets one day off....sometimes!! So on his day off we went to the park, which meant no siesta for Nichy!!!

Big Win!

Nichy played Estudiantes last night. This is a big rival because both teams are in the same city. We actually live two blocks from The Estudiantes gym! It was great being able to walk to the game and home with Nichy last night. In Argentina you can't have two first division teams in the same city. We live in Bahia Blanca and Nichy practices here. El Nacionals' home games are played in Monte Hermoso which is an hour drive. It is a big inconvenience because Nichy has to stay in a hotel for his home games. Even though last night was not considered a "home" game it really felt like one! The gym was packed and it was a great game. Gabriela has done really well at basketball game so far. It's not easy taking a 6 month to a basketball game and holding her the entire game. Luckily some of the girlfriends and moms just can't get enough of her, and like to hold her during the games!! It's great for me because I get to watch the game!

We won by three points! Estudiantes missed a three at the buzzer to tie the game! Lately they have been playing really well and have won the last four games. This picture is Ed Nelson gaurding Nichy when they beat us the first time we played! Ed lives in our apartment complex, right below us!

First Blog

We decided to make a blog. It will be a great way to keep track of Gabriela, places we have lived, and all our fun adventures! We are living in Bahia Blanca, Argentina. Nichy is playing basketball for El Nacional.

Gabriela is getting so big. She will be 7 months old November 19! I look at her every day and cannot believe my little baby is almost 7 months!

Here is a picture of Nichy and Gabriela at his favorite Argentina restaurant!
